Saturday Cleaning

Today I tackled one of my least favorite chores; cleaning the tub and shower. Do you ever wait too long, and start getting those little black mildew spots? Do you get excessive soap buildup in the soap dish? Do you have scum appear on the ledge where the shampoo sits? I know this seldom is a problem in most of your homes, and you probably have never let your cleaning slide, but for those times when procrastination keeps you from keeping your tub as clean as Mom would, I have some heavy duty cleaner that makes short work of even the most neglected bathing nooks! Sue told me about this concoction long ago, and it works great!

Take a quart size container (I’ve used a canning jar) and add a scoop of powdered laundry detergent.

Fill it about 2/3 full of hot water, and stir.

Pour in about a cup of bleach, and go to work!

Caution! This is a very strong formula! Wear gloves, and be sure to have adequate ventilation by leaving the bathroom door open! I hold a sponge to the top of the jar, and tip the jar over until the sponge fills up, and use it for wiping all that disgusting crud right away. Rinse thoroughly.

Thanks for the tip! I too have a bad shower most of the time because it gets used so much and not cleaned often enough. I’ll give your cleaner a try.
